Strictly, a sedan is a car with a front row of seats and a rear row of seats, such that the rear row has enough space for at least two adult human beings. The engine can be in front or in the rear.
The Americans call this configuration a sedan, and the British, a saloon.

That being said, sedans can be 4-door or 2-door.
A notchback sedan is a three-box sedan.

and they can be notchback, fastback (aka aeroback) or hatchback.
A hatchback (a.k.a. liftback) sedan does not have a trunk lid. Instead the entire back of the car lifts up (using a liftgate or hatch). Example Hyundai Accent Viva and Skoda Octavia.

A fastback sedan is a two-box sedan with continuous slope from the roof to the base of the decklid, but no hatch.

sanırım eksik yazmışım yukarıdaki araçların hepsi sedan
yani ülkemizde kullanılan isimlendirmenin aksine, hatcback (diğer adıyla liftback) aslında sedan'ın bir alt çeşididir. bizim sedan dediğimiz araçlar ise "notchback sedan"mış
